Khan Academy on EdPuzzle

The wonder of learning

Sal Khan has helped millions of students get a better education - and he’s done it all at no cost to the kids. Talk about having an impact, right?

His nonprofit video platform - Khan Academy - helps students get real results in the classroom and on important tests. Just look at these results from the Khan Academy website:

“Students who complete 60% of their grade-level math on Khan Academy experience 1.8 times their expected growth on the NWEA MAP Test, a popular assessment test.”

“20 hours of practice [on Khan Academy] is associated with a 115-point average score increase from the PSAT/NMSQT to the SAT, nearly double the average gain of students who do not practice on Official SAT Practice.”

Results like this don’t happen by accident. Sal Khan started with a belief that students of all ages could experience the wonder of learning - the same feeling children have in elementary school - if they could continue to learn at their own pace through their school career.

In other words, Sal Khan believes in the power of personalized learning. Khan remembers the feeling of walking into his second grade classroom. If he wanted to draw, he could draw a picture. If he was in the mood for a game, then he got to play. It was this choice to engage with material how and when he wanted to that Khan Academy is based on.

With all this in mind, here are two things for you to remember:
  1. Khan Academy has their own channel on Edpuzzle. You can create custom video lessons using Khan Academy content from right within the Edpuzzle app.
  2. If you want to learn more about personalized learning and the impact of technology on learning, then you can check out our professional learning course here.

Happy teaching!
